"Dalek Cred" - The incredible awareness every British person has of what the Dalek's are and the power they hold over people. Fear of a huge Pepper shaker, essenially. It can also be equated as "Lupin Cred" in a more Japanese sense. It is what every author/artist strives for in their characters.
The best example is that there is a video clip on youtube of Nick Briggs, voice of the newest Daleks on Doctor Who was interviewed by two BBC anchors, and every time he speaks through the ring modulator both Anchors flinch. Not because the sound is any louder or even that it's grating on the nerves, both later commented that the reason they flinch is because they both associate the Dalek like voice for childhood terror.
More so in the Season 4 finale, (i'm trying to do this spoiler free) there is a scene where everyone amongst all the Who-niverse realizes what has happened, and those that know enough despair and cry. And the fact that the scene works on real people who know it's all fake and still get shivers down their spine.
